Introducing Canapville

Canapville is the perfect destination for those who like their getaways with a soupçon of timeless style. Just a short drive from the elegant seaside resorts of Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer, this part of north-western France mixes heritage with contemporary style – not to mention a lively food and drink scene which champions the best of land and sea.

Things to do

BEACHES
With ‘the Parisian Riviera’ on your doorstep, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to relaxing days at the beach. Embrace the chic atmosphere of Deauville or Trouville-sur-Mer, or journey further afield from Canapville to see the stunning cliff arches at Étretat, immortalised by France’s Impressionists. The charming old port in Honfleur is also worth a visit – especially if you’d rather not get sand between your toes.

FOOD & DRINK
Strike out from Canapville and get a taste for the region’s famous Calvados (apple brandy) at Cormeilles’ 200-year-old distillery. Trouville’s bustling fish market is a real treat for the senses – as is Deauville’s covered market, which sells everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to vintage clothes and antiques. There is also an impressive array of festivals held here throughout the year, from Orbec’s Fête du Camembert in early summer to cider, sausage and herring celebrations each autumn.

CULTURE
Rub shoulders with smart Parisians at the historic Deauville-La-Touques racecourse, founded by the Duke of Morny in 1864. Or saddle up for a canter along the shore if you’re an experienced rider yourself. Along with all things equine, Deauville is also famous for its American Film Festival, while towns like Beuzeville will give you a glimpse of Normandy’s fascinating medieval past. And of course, this stretch of coastline will always be known for the role it played in World War Two.
